Takaful Malaysia continues to strengthen its role as a caring Islamic financial institution by implementing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that create meaningful impact for the community. The Group has launched the Braille Project, a programme dedicated to empowering visually impaired students at Sekolah Agama Princess Elizabeth, Johor Bahru.

Takaful Malaysia contributed RM150,000 to support the learning of visually impaired students in studying and understanding the Holy Quran. The contribution comprises forty-one (41) copies of the Malaysian Braille Quran (30 juzuk); fourteen (14) Brailler machines; one (1) Braille Embosser for printing daily learning materials; and six (6) specially designed steel cabinets for the safekeeping of the mushaf.

The Braille learning equipment handover ceremony was attended by Takaful Malaysia Am Chairman, Ismail Mahbob; Takaful Malaysia Keluarga Chief Distribution Officer, Yassir Azlin; Sekolah Agama Princess Elizabeth Principal, Azlifah Sadeli; as well as representatives from Takaful Malaysia, the Johor State Education Department, and the Johor Bahru District Education Office.

A total of thirty-seven (37) students aged between seven (7) and sixteen (16) years, together with two (2) teachers from Sekolah Agama Princess Elizabeth, benefited from this contribution, which is expected to enhance Quranic literacy and broaden access to Islamic education among visually impaired students. Mastery of Braille equips students with essential basic skills to pursue higher education and enter the workforce, thereby paving the way towards a better future.

"
The Braille equipment donated is not just a learning aid but serve as keys to self-learning, building self-confidence, and laying a solid foundation for a more inclusive future.

According to Ismail Mahbob, “The Braille equipment donated is not just a learning aid but serve as keys to self-learning, building self-confidence, and laying a solid foundation for a more inclusive future. This initiative reflects Takaful Malaysia’s continuous efforts to support social development, increase access to quality education, and strengthen humanitarian values in line with the fundamental takaful principle of mutual assistance. As a responsible corporate citizen, we believe that education should be accessible to all, regardless of physical circumstances.”

The event was also attended by Rusdi Mat Saat, an alumnus of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pendidikan Khas & Sekolah Agama Princess Elizabeth, who has served at Takaful Malaysia since 1998. As a visually impaired individual, Rusdi has proven that limitations are not barriers to success. His story stands as an inspiration for students to continue believing in their own abilities.

Takaful Malaysia consistently employs individuals with disabilities as part of its workforce, reflecting the Group’s unwavering commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and equity. This approach not only underscores the organisation’s social responsibility but also affirms that every individual has the potential to make meaningful contributions to both the Group and society.

“Initiatives such as the Braille Project are part of our ongoing efforts to ensure no student is left behind in the progress of education. We will continue to support programmes that deliver direct impact to communities, in line with our aspiration to shape a brighter and more inclusive future. Takaful Malaysia remains committed to advancing community development through various CSR programmes, in nurturing a more caring, inclusive, and prosperous society,” added Ismail Mahbob.
