Five underprivileged children from As-Sakinah Orphanage scaled Borneo’s highest peak of Mount Kinabalu recently thanks to Takaful Malaysia’s sponsorship of the hiking expedition. The five who were part of the eleven (11) member team successfully reached the summit after a two (2) day trek. Takaful Malaysia via its Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) umbrella of Takaful myJalinan Kasih contributed a total of RM8, 000 to cover all the expenses needed by the team for this expedition.
The program which involved eight (8) orphans and two (2) wardens from As-Sakinah Orphanage was also accompanied by a patron. We sincerely thank Takaful Malaysia for their tremendous generosity in providing the financial assistance and full support for this expedition. We are overwhelmed that the orphans carried with them strong physical, mental and spiritual traits to complete our mission and return safely.
This program is a good platform that gives us the opportunity to connect with the society as supporting social ventures, empowering people and engaging the wider community goes beyond our everyday business. Takaful Malaysia will definitely carry on supporting noble initiatives where possible, in tandem with our corporate citizenship programmes to foster goodwill, learning and building relationships with the community.
