Takaful Malaysia handed over two new houses built for Asnaf, the underprivileged who are eligible to receive zakat aid, in Selangor and Kedah, respectively. The housing aid program for the Asnaf is a joint effort between Takaful Malaysia, Lembaga Zakat Selangor (“Selangor Zakat Board”) and Lembaga Zakat Negeri Kedah (“Kedah State Zakat Board”) to help those in need own a home and improve their quality of life.

The housing aid for the Asnaf or the tithe recipients is a program we initiated to provide housing to those most affected and deserving. Therefore, we have set aside some allocation of zakat for this program to help build new houses for the Asnaf through our collaboration with the respective State Zakat Boards. Each newly built house costs approximately between RM40,000 and RM50,000. We also furnished both houses with some basic furniture to provide them with comfort.

"
The housing aid program enables Asnaf to own a house built on their land. This program is in line with our corporate philosophy of improving lives and contributing towards a caring society. Under the pilot project in collaboration with the Selangor and Kedah State Zakat Boards, we hope to continue working towards expanding this program with state zakat boards or Islamic religious councils from other states. Takaful Malaysia has always been at the forefront of cultivating goodwill, and we will continue supporting noble initiatives that benefit the community.”
